Adventure Awaits You!

Hi Friends! How's your Summer going?

Ernie and I have been enjoying some of our favorite Summer activities here at home here in West Virginia - camping, kayaking, lounging by the pool, and all that fun stuff. Ernie has stayed busy in the garage working on a complete restoration on his '51 Ford F100. There are parts scattered all over the garage! lol!

In June we took our 8th annual bike trip (on our Goldwing trike) down theBlue Ridge Parkway(locally referred to as the BRP) with six of our friends. This year we rode about 1,300 miles in the week we were gone. Every year we look forward to seeing the incredible beauty along the BRP and spend a few days in the Cherokee/Maggie Valley area. If you haven't driven that scenic by-way, you need to add it to your bucket list! The views are breathtaking!

Ernie and I will be back in Pigeon Forge in September for the Shades of the Past car show. We plan on working on swapping out some appliances in Asbury Cottage 2 while we're there. Watch our Facebook page for updates.

There is so much happening in Pigeon Forge and the Smoky Mountains! I'm not sure where to start, but I'll give it whirl...

Hope to hear from you soon,
 Connie

Lumberjack Feud

Paula Deen reopened Lumberjack Feud at Waldon's Landing (near Lights #2-3).

 It opened July 18th.

The climate controlled covered grandstand-style padded seating (that's a mouthful) in the outdoor venue overlooks the area where the skilled lumberjacks climb 60 ft. poles in just seconds and free fall down them even faster!

The show times are 5:00 and 8:00 M-F - rain or shine. Tickets are $29.95/Adults and $12.95/Children (ages 4-11).

Connie's Pick - Summer Read

I had the pleasure of meeting local author Lin Stepp at Wilderness Wildlife Week in May. Lin is inspiring and she is such an entertaining speaker. Her captivating novels are based in areas in and around the Smokies.

I have no doubt you will enjoy spending time in the Smokies through her words and getting to know her characters, as if they have been your friends for life.

From Lin: As this warm, sunny July weekend settles in ... perhaps you'd like to sit and read, forget your busy job, ignore some tasks you need to do ... and just settle in to a book or two set in the Smoky Mountains. Here are two you might enjoy ... LOST INHERITANCE set in popular Gatlinburg, TN and DADDY'S GIRL set in the small town charm Bryson City, NC.

Her books can be found on Amazon through paperback and Kindle.
